| GLOVE CARE |
The gloves are conserved in a dry place,
in fact with the humidity the skin grows mouldy. The critical moment
is that one of the wasing: even if exist specific products , we advise
the home wash . For the washing please proceed in this way:
- Wear the gloves
- Wash hands scouring them with lukewarm water
and soap of Marseille
- Rinse with fresh water
- Dry in aired place, never directly to the
sun or the excessive warm, otherwise the leather becomes stiff
- Wear still humid to give again original shape
and softness
For the cleaning of leather gloves "not
washable " the procedure is same, but instead of water it must
be used the benzine

| KIND OF
LEATHERS |
Leather for gloves must have
determined characteristics : to be fine and nervous to adapt itself
to the movement of the hands: after manufacture the leather must turn
on elastic in the length sense and the seams must hold. The main kind
of leathers used by ALPO are :
- Nappa: ovine skin (kidskin, intercrossed
lamb) usually from South Africa.
- Suede (o chamois): it is the
inner part of nappa.
- Wild boar or pig suede: pig
skin from the East.
- Wild deer: from North America, it
is a leather particularly doughy, elastic and at same time resistant.
- Peccary: particularly expensive leather
because difficult to find. Gained from little wild boars that
live in swampy areas of South America.
- Merinos: skin with hair of lambs from
New Zealand.
- Sherling: skin of Spanish ram with
hair.
- Elephant: lamb skin with a particular
manufacturing which is imitating the elephant leather.

The cords can be made by hand
or by machine.
The seams can be :
- SADDLER: for sport gloves where the
yarn which keep together the two parts of leather stepping over
the hedges.
- PIQUE': for very fine gloves, where
the parts come withheld and sewn one of the other.
- STROCK: inside or outside point to
chain stitch
- BY HAND: the most demanded for valuable
gloves. A worker succeeds to hand sew two or three pairs glove
in a day.

| SIZES AND MEASURE |
Unit of measure of glove is
foot (324 mm) that is divided in twelve inches (27 mm). Ladies sizes
are : 6 ½ - 7 - 7 ½ - 8; men's sizes are : 8 - 8 ½
- 9 - 9 ½ - 10. The size can be checked measuring, with a graded
tape in inches, the entire turn of the hand in the point where the
fingers articulate themselves in the bones of metacarpus.
The length of glove is expressed in inches or buttons, and measure
the distance the distance to leave from the base of the inch until
the hem of the glove.
